Are you wearing the right bra size? Here are six tips to find out!

Wearing the correct bra is especially crucial for those with larger breasts, as inadequate support can lead to uncomfortable issues like poor posture over time. Our bra fitting experts at Curated Lingerie shop in Edmonton are here to help you find the perfect fit, offer personalized advice, and provide lingerie solutions to enhance your posture. Follow these six tips to determine if you're wearing the right size.

No. 1 - The Band:

The band provides the majority of a bra's support, accounting for up to 80%. To find the right band size, fasten your bra on the middle hook and see if you can fit three fingers under the clasp. If you can and the band stays parallel to the floor, you've got the correct fit! A simple way to check the snugness of the band is to lift your arms above your head. If your bra remains in place, the band is tight enough. If it rides up, the band is too loose.

No. 2 - The Underwire:

The underwire should rest flat against your chest without causing discomfort. If it springs back when you press on it, the cups are likely too small. Additionally, the underwire should fully encircle the breasts. Any poking or pinching is a definite sign that the fit is incorrect.

No. 3 - The Centre Gore:

The strip of fabric connecting the cups is known as the center gore. For an ideal fit, the center gore should lie flat against your chest. If it doesn't and the underwire lifts away from your body, consider sizing up or trying a different bra style that better accommodates your breast shape.

No. 4 - The Cups:

The fit of the cups is crucial for the comfort and appearance of your bra. To ensure you have the correct cup size, make sure your entire breasts fit inside the cups. If there's any spillage at the top or sides, opt for a larger cup size while keeping the same band size. Conversely, if the cups gape or wrinkle, try a smaller cup size or consider a different bra style.

No. 5 - The Straps:

Did you know that bra straps contribute to only about 10% of your support? The back band and center gore handle most of the support work. Adjust the straps so that you can fit two fingers between the strap and your shoulder for optimal comfort.

No. 6 - How it feels overall:

The final and most crucial check: How does your bra feel? Even if you've found the ideal size, the way a bra feels is the ultimate test. You might prefer a bra with more coverage for comfort or a more revealing style made from lighter materials.
